August 2025
Daydreams, Details, and Slowing Down
August always feels like a shift. Summer is still here, but there’s a quietness to it now. Less hustle, more lingering. The light changes, and suddenly you notice things you missed in the busyness of June and July—like how your sunglasses are scratched in a way that reminds you of last summer’s road trip, or how the breeze feels a little different in the evening.
This month’s mini painting is about noticing those details. The ones that make an ordinary day feel a little more golden. Sunglasses are just the symbol—what I really wanted to paint was the feeling of being unhurried. Of giving yourself permission to pause.
Creative Highs and House on Lang
I did another pop-up at House on Lang this past month, and each one continues to bring me so much joy. It’s wild to see people connect with the work in person. When someone picks up an embroidered shirt and says, “Wait, you made this?”—it’s a kind of magic. Those small moments of surprise, connection, and appreciation make all the long hours worth it.
One thing I’ve noticed lately: people are craving handmade things. They want to know where something came from. They want to feel the stitching, the texture, the time it took. I’ve had so many conversations lately with people who love the idea of wearing art, and that’s exactly what I’ve always hoped these pieces would be.
Stitch by Stitch
Embroidery has been a big part of my summer, and it continues to be such a grounding creative practice for me. I’ve been experimenting with new designs and playing with color, texture, and even scale. I have a few commissions in the works, and I love how personal and collaborative that process can be.
Some pieces are playful, some are sentimental, and all of them are stitched with intention. I’ve been thinking of these garments as tiny, wearable canvases—each one with a little story behind it.
Making Things Official
A big milestone this month: I made my business official! I formed an LLC and even ordered business cards. (Yes, I can now truly say: “Put it on the company card.”) It’s funny how something so administrative can feel so meaningful—but it does. It’s a quiet declaration that this isn’t just a hobby anymore.
I’ve built something slowly and with care, and now it’s time to really step into that. This community—you—has been a huge part of that.
This Months Mini
This month, I painted sunglasses. Not just because they’re a summer staple (though they are), but because they carry a feeling—one of ease, of quiet luxury, of seeing the world a little softer. They make me think of slow days, cloud watching, people-watching, lounging, and letting yourself drift. That’s where this month’s inspiration started: in the space between moments, in daydreams, in the tiny details that make everyday life feel rich.
A Note to You
If you’ve been following along since the beginning or just joined in, thank you. Every subscription, every message, every shared photo means more than I can say.
This month’s painting is small, but I hope it reminds you to keep looking closely. To pause for the good light. To romanticize your errands. To let yourself daydream.
Here’s to the finer things—
